About Science Monday

The purpose of this website is to promote parent’s interest in science topics that will encourage discussion with their children. While I am a parent of a student at the Coral Academy of Science in Reno, Nevada, USA, this site is not approved, supervised, nor sponsored by that school.  Sources for the information provided in each article is referenced and parents are encouraged to explore the references and other information on the topics presented to broaden their knowledge for themselves, as well as for discussion with the young scientist(s) in their house. Students are welcome to use the information from this site in their papers and presentations providing it is properly cited (SEE Plagiarism Warning below.)

Plagiarism Warning to Students: Quoting material from this site is allowed providing you use the correct method of referencing the material (Your teacher will determine the proper method of reference required for her/his class;) however, copying material in whole or part is never allowed without crediting the source.  Your teacher/school will determine the penalty for ‘stealing’ written material without proper credit from this site or any other source, which may include receiving no credit for the assignment and further disciplinary actions.  To excel in scholarly work you must learn the skill of using another person’s written information, crediting it to that person, then creating your own discussion regarding what he or she said. It enhances your work to properly cite references and it adds credibility to what you say in your work. DON’T COPY, DO CITE.
